From a contact print taken from a glass plate negative. A photo taken by a local, professional photographer. At least two of the vessels in the picture were registered in London. The ship left of centre is SS ‘Wrenwood’. She was built in 1943 by Samuel Peter Austin & Son Ltd., Wear Dock, Sunderland for Wm. France Fenwick & Co. Ltd. of London. In 1946 she was transferred to Coastwide Colliers Ltd., London and renamed ‘Collingwood’. In 1949 she was returned to the original owners and named ‘Wrenwood’, once again. In 1959 she was sold to a Beirut company and renamed ‘Ethel’. Foundered and lost off the east coast of the USA when on route from New York in 1960.
