The correspondence was sent from Market Rasen on 19th December 1877. It arrived in Grimsby the next day. Mr James Henry Gee was born in Penzance, Cornwall in 1850. He was the son of Alfred and Elizabeth Gee. James married Maria Jane Praed in Penzance in 1878. James H. Gee set up in business as a draper at 101/102 Freeman Street, Grimsby in 1877. They had a daughter, Margaret, in 1880. Gershim/Gersham/Gershom William Batty Gee, who was born on 25th June 1838 in Parham, Antigua, West Indies, had set up in business as a linen draper at 284 Victoria Street South, Grimsby by 1871 and in Market Street, Grimsby by 1881. (He moved from Boston.) His parents were Alfred and Elizabeth Gee. G. W. B. Gee married Elizabeth Perrow Praed in Penzance in 1867. G.W.B. Gee, and family, moved to Spalding in 1883 and set up in business there. Gershim/Gersham/Gershom William Batty Gee was the elder brother of James Henry Gee. They both married Praed girls who were presumably related, but not sisters. James Henry Gee died on 15th January 1922. He is buried in Cleethorpes Cemetery. James and Maria lived at 104 ‘Wharncliffe’, Oxford Road, Cleethorpes. Maria Jane died in 1942, aged 94. Gershim/Gersham/Gershom William Batty Gee died in Watford in 1896. Gersom and Elizabeth were living with their daughter and son-in-law, James William Eason, in Watford. In 1921, Elizabeth Perrow Gee was living with her daughter and son-in-law, James William Eason, in Scartho. James William Eason was a ship owner. Elizabeth Perrow Gee died in Grimsby in 1931 and is buried in Scartho Road Cemetery. Research by Grimsby & Cleethorpes Museum.
