Royal Navy submarine being assisted into Immingham Docks 1987.
From an original photographic print. The submarine is being assisted into Immingham Docks by the Humber pusher/tugs Lady Stephanie and Lady Elizabeth. HMS ‘Walrus’ (1959-1991) and HMS ‘Oberon’ (1959-1991) were Porpoise class submarines of the Royal Navy. In 1987, they were sold to the Seaforth Group to be refitted for resale to Egypt. The refitting work was done at Immingham and the submarines were renamed Seaforth ‘A’ and Seaforth ‘B’ during the process. The deal with Egypt never went ahead and the two submarines were broken up at Doigs Shipyard, Grimsby in 1991. Note: The submarine is still flying the Ensign at this point.
