People’s Park; the refreshment pavilion and the WW1 tank ‘Edna’ c1920s.
Grimsby
An original, unposted postcard by an unknown publisher. Most probably produced in Grimsby. The postcard was sourced from the USA. The postcard shows exactly where the WW1 tank was located. The souvenir tank came to the park in December 1919 and was cut up for scrap in January 1930. The tank was named after Edna Hobbs, the Mayor’s wife. A 77m German field gun, delivered to the park in 1916, is just out of sight. The lake can be seen in the middle distance.
