An original carte de visite (CdV) portrait. Thomas Canham was the son of Thomas Sewell Canham (1802-1882) and Mary Ann Canham (née Hawes) of Kings Lynn, Norfolk. Thomas was born on 5th August 1832. Thomas married Clara Dunworth (born Barking, Essex in 1849) in Grimsby on 11th November 1869. They lived at Lawson’s Buildings, Kent Street, Grimsby. Thomas was working as a photographer. Thomas and Clara had a son named Thomas Sewell Benjamin Canham in late 1870. Thomas Sewell Benjamin Canham died on 22nd February 1872. He was buried in Ainslie Street Cemetery. Thomas and Clara had a second son, Benjamin Cottrell Canham on 25th June 1875. Thomas and Clara may have had another son, Thomas William Canham who was born in 1873 and died in 1876. Thomas Canham, photographer/artist, died on 18th July 1876, aged 44 years. He was buried in Ainslie Street Cemetery (also given as Grimsby, St. Andrew). Clara Canham returned to Essex and died in East Ham, Essex on 1st January 1932. Benjamin Cottrell Canham, stevedore, died in East Ham, Essex in 1950. He had a daughter and a son. The son became a stockbroker.
