An original, written but unposted, printed postcard. Printed & published by J. Salmon, Sevenoaks, Kent. J. Salmon Ltd. was founded in 1880 and ceased trading in 2017. It was the oldest established postcard and calendar publisher in Britain. The lady in the picture is wearing a hobble skirt which was popular c1908 to c1914. The message reads, “To Nelly. From May. Wishing you many happy returns of the day,” The three Cleethorpes owls are thought to represent the three villages of Oole, Itterby and Thrunscoe which make up the Thorpes of Clee. They appear on the Cleethorpes Coat of Arms.
