
Grimsby Telephone Exchange 1950.
From a small set of original photos once belonging to Miss Florence Borrill. The Reverse is labelled, “D Day 1950”. Florence was appointed as a telephonist on 31st October 1931. Her commencing pay was 24 shillings and six pence a week and would be reviewed on her 21st birthday. After her probation period, her pay scale was to be fifteen to 35 shillings. Florence Borrill was born in Barnetby le Wold, Lincolnshire on 14th February 1911. In 1921, her family lived in Immingham. In 1939, she lived with her parents at 37 Marshall Avenue, Grimsby. Her father was an LNER loco driver. Florence died in 1999. She was still living at 37 Marshall Avenue in 1995, 55+ years after 1939.
