An original, most probably unique, ‘Season’s Greetings’ photograph with a holly leaves design on the reverse. The photo was taken by Harry Harrison, photographer, 70 Lovett Street, New Clee. On the reverse is written, “Left. Albert Edward Slater. Grimsby.” Albert Edward Slater could possibly the person who was born on 15th January 1898 and was baptised in New Clee on 11th February 1898. His parents were Christopher and Clara Ann Slater (née Tyson) who married in Grimsby in 1895. The family lived at 8 Pleham Street, Clee and then at 56 Hart Street, New Cleethorpes. In 1921, Albert Edward Slater was a fisherman on the steam trawler ‘Gardenia GY.402. He died on 20th January 1941 when he was the skipper of HMT ‘Relonzo’ (FY 843). The vessel was mined in the Mersey (Crosby Channel). Albert Edward Slater is buried in Scartho Road Cemetery, Grimsby. Anumber of other crew members lost their lives. Who could the other guy be? Albert Edward Slater had two brothers; Thomas Shepherd/Shep(p)ard Slater who was born in 1899/1900 and Christopher Slater who was born on 10th December 1901. Christopher Slater was a chief engineer on the S.T. ‘Leicestershire’ GY.241. He died on 28th January 1938 when the vessel was lost off the Orkneys (Berry Head, Hoy) in a gale. Fifteen of the crew of 16 were lost. (Thomas) Harry Harrison was born in Northampton in 1873. He married Alice Carver (born Long Eaton, Derbyshire) in Nottingham in 1891. Their first child was born in Long Eaton. They we living at 70 Lovett Street by 1901 and he was already working as and artist and photographer. The couple had three children; (Agnes) Edna (1901), Henry Arthur / Arthur Harry Carver (1906-1957) and Hilda Kathleen (1910). Harry was still a photographer in 1921. Harry died in hospital on 12th September 1928. His home address was still 70 Lovett Street. Alice died in Selby on 25th August 1940. Her home address was given as 70 Lovett Street, Cleethorpes.
