From the original large negative. The photographer was Sid Burton (1894-1966) of Grimsby. Originally an oil tanker built in 1929 by William Hamilton & Co., Port Glasgow. She was named ‘Athel Duchess’. Her first owner was United Molasses Co. Ltd. London and her first port of register was Liverpool. In 1957, she was converted to a bulk carrier. Her other names were; ‘Milford’ (1948), ‘Jean Marie’ (1954), ‘Mano’ (1956), ‘Bahama Count’ (1959), ‘Ronga’ (1962) and ‘Billy’ (1964). She was registered in the UK, Norway, Belgium, Liberia, the Bahamas, Norway (again) and Liberia (again). Badly damaged in 1943 and a new forepart was added in 1948. Broken up in Taiwan in 1971.
