A 9t gold tag from a wartime ID bracelet. The bracelet is missing. Olive’s E.D. Letter Code / Schedule No. on the 1939 Register is TKAM 309/2, as shown on the reverse of the tag. Olive Wilkes was born in Grimsby in 1894. She was the daughter of Thomas Henry Wilkes, sawyer, and Amelia Wilkes. Olive married Hugh John Burton Dobbs in Grimsby in 1927. Hugh was born in Boston in 1891 and was baptised in Louth in 1892. His father was a signalman. In 1933, Hugh Dobbs took over the business of J. W. Hartley of 67 Lambert Road, Grimsby. Hugh sold prime English beef and mutton at competitive prices. On the 1939 Register, Hugh is described as a master butcher. He was also a special policeman. Thee couple had a daughter, Eileen, in 1932. Hugh John Burton Dobbs of 67 Lambert Road, Grimsby died on 6th March 1966. Olive Dobbs of 1 Dene Road, Grimsby died in August 1973. The former butcher’s shop outbuildings can still be seen at the back of 67 Lambert Road.
