Kingsway, Cleethorpes featuring the Jubilee Fountain c1925.
A detail from an original, unposted, real photographic postcard by C. & A.G. Lewis Limited, Nottingham – Robin Hood Brand. Postcard No. 3100. Robin Hood Brand postcards are known for their quality. The Jubilee Fountain was paid for by the Grant family and was installed in Sea Road in 1897 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. It was moved to Brighton Slipway (as shown here) in 1905. The fountain was demolished after being slightly damaged in a car accident in 1949. The No. 44 tram runs to People’s Park, Grimsby. The sign is a warning that motor cars, horse carriages and cycles are not allowed on the Promenade. The lower sign adds that roller skates are prohibited too.
