George Hewitt founded his business in 1871. They were the oldest jewellers in town until the business closed in 2025. Hewitt’s always placed the emphasis on quality and, at one time, they were one of the largest stockists of Rolex watches in the North of England. The business was transferred from 80 Victoria Street to 10 Victoria Street in 1939.
